Japan’s First Luxury Cruise Train “Seven Stars in Kyushu”

The romance of luxury rail travel comes to Japan! Cruise train "Nanatsuboshi", or "Seven Stars in Kyushu". Operated by JR Kyushu, this unique form of rail travel made its debut in October 2013 to a crowd eagerly awaiting the first "in-land cruise" through Kyushu island. Tour courses through June 2014 were fully booked almost immediately. Reservations for the next round of tours will be available early next year, to non-Japan based applicants as well as Japan-based applicants. There are two tour courses available: 4 days - 3 nights, and 2 days - 1 night.

The luxury cruise train's accommodations are a delightful invitation to relax and leisurely enjoy the journey. Fourteen guest rooms (12 suites and 2 exclusive deluxe suites), a dining car, and a lounge with bar (used as a relaxation area during the day and for musical performances and other entertainment in the evening) are all fitted with exquisite woods, fabrics and beautifully decorated with magnificent ceramics from Kyushu. Stellar on-board cuisine delights guests with delicious seasonal flavors.

Nanatsuboshi (nana, or seven, refers to the seven prefectures of Kyushu, as well as the seven carriages of the train and the seven tourist elements including nature, history and culture, cuisine, hot springs, etc.) is the first of its kind to allow guests to enjoy the beauty of Kyushu as they glide through the landscape, and to also experience the many treasures of this southern island through excursions and side trips. Excursions include visits to Mount Aso, the largest active volcano in Japan in Aso Kuju National Park, and to Yufuin, a town famous for its natural hot spring spas.

JR Kyushu will start taking applications for its July to September 2014 trips starting in January 2014 at: http://www.cruisetrain-sevenstars.jp/en/entry.html.
